The Supremes - The Beginning Of The End (Cream Of The Crop)
(M. Johnson)
Tender words of love
That once came easy
Now seems strained and insincere
Could this be the beginning
The beginning of the end
You don't tell me that you love me
And your kisses seem untrue
Could this be the beginning
The beginning of the end
My heart oh, my love
My everything has always
Been just for you
Now I pray every day
Each and every day
This coldness I find is only in my mind
Now you swear
You still love me
I longer feel you need me near
Could this be the beginning
I believe it's the beginning of the end
The beginning
The beginning of the end

This is a great song, and there are millions of stories behind this and people who can relate to them .I am very glad to see the clips of Imitation Of Life in it. This movie was so controversial many theaters in the south banned it, .Many people lived a life of Passing for white and it really had damaging affects on them and their loved ones. Families were torn apart many times never to see each other again. As bad as it was to Pass, You thought you would have a better life.

I know exactly what you mean raposofan!! This song conveys emotions like no other.
But it makes me sad mainly because I don't think we'll ever see the likes of Holland/Dozier/Holland in terms of composing talent. Every song they composed is instrumentally exceptionnal.
